Snakes are cold-blooded animals belonging to the reptilian class, in which there are about 2000 types inhabiting all parts of the world. Their body is spindle-shaped, elongated; but it can be distinguished with three divisions: head, trunk, and tail. The body is covered with scales smooth or with a projection in the middle in the form of a keel.
Some of them have the form of plates or guards (on the head, belly). All these scaly formations consist of dense horny substance.
The general characteristic of snakes is that at different types of snakes of a scale are painted in a different tone and quite often have a spot. The combinations of color and spots give the corresponding general tone and typical for this type of pattern. Some reptiles are painted in one, mostly dark, others carry a very bright color. Some have a modest design, in the form of small spots, rarely scattered along the body; in others, it represents a multicolored lace.
As studies have shown, the presence of a scaly cover, colored in different colors, is a very important factor in the life of snakes. Strong horny scales, like the shingles covering their body, well protect the snakes from various injuries. As for color and pattern, they are mostly adapted to the conditions of the surrounding area.
Sometimes it is difficult to notice not movably lying snake. Steppe viper, painted in brownish tones, almost completely merges with the general coloring of the sun-scorched steppe. The Madagascar boa and mesh python have such colorful colors and interlaced patterns that are very suitable for playing light and shadows in the rainforests.
